You procrastinate because of overwhelm
Watch this short video to learn how to overcome it.

Okay, so you took the quiz and the real reason you've been procrastinating is overwhelm. And I'm gonna explain exactly why that is and what you can do to change it today. So our feelings are what drive our actions. The only reason we ever do anything is because of the way that we feel. So it's natural that when you're feeling overwhelmed, you're not gonna wanna take any action.
When your brain brings you a thought like "There's too much to do", then you feel overwhelmed, you don't take any action, and because you're not taking any action, you're not seeing any new results – which means there's still so much to do and you just prove to your brain that there is a lot to do, and that cycle just continues.
So what we wanna do is cut you out of that spiral, and I'm gonna explain exactly how today. So your brain will try to tell you that you're overwhelmed because of all the things you have to do, but really overwhelm doesn't come from all the things you have to do, it comes from what you're thinking about doing those things.
And here's how we know that's true, because there are so many people in this world who are working as much as you are or have as many things on your plate as you do, and don't feel overwhelmed by it because they're thinking something different. They're thinking thoughts that make them feel energised or excited or calm or in control, or something that doesn't make them feel overwhelmed, and then they take action.
The items on your to-do list are neutral. It's what you're thinking about them that makes them feel overwhelming. Like, have you ever been to someone's house, and it's like a huge mess, and they're feeling really overwhelmed and they're freaking out about it? And you're like “all I have to do is get a box for donating and a box for throwing stuff away, and we're just gonna separate these out.”
And you don't feel any overwhelm, right? Because you're thinking “We can handle this. This is fine.” What you're thinking about the things you're doing is what's creating the overwhelm. And so we have to change that by changing the way that you're thinking about what you have on your plate.
Now, what most people try to do to relieve the overwhelm is to remove a bunch of things from their to-do list. And while this does work to alleviate that overwhelm temporarily, it's really only solving the symptom. You're just removing the stimulus that you're having all the overwhelming thoughts about, but what happens when that stimulus comes back? What happens when you need to do a bunch of things again?
You're just gonna feel that overwhelm, so it's not really solving the root issue.
We don't want to temporarily remove the overwhelm by getting rid of tasks. We want to permanently remove the overwhelm by training you to think differently about those tasks so that you don't feel the overwhelm. So that you think, “I can handle this” in any situation that you're in.
So if you want to start feeling calm and in control of your life and your goals, you have to start thinking differently about what's on your plate. I want you to look at everything that there is and notice how, it's just your thoughts about it that create the feeling of overwhelm and you get to choose a different thought.
You get to choose what you think about what's on your plate. You don't have to listen to what I call the “auto-generated suggestions” that your brain brings you. Like, “Oh my gosh, there's too much to do. There's not enough time.” You don't have to choose to keep thinking those thoughts. Even if they initially pop up, you can decide what you want to think about the things that are on your plate.
So I recommend that you think thoughts like, “I can handle this”, or “There's totally enough time to get everything done.” What do you need to be thinking about the things you have to do in order to feel calm so that you can take action and keep going after your goals? I recommend that you write it down and start practicing those thoughts.
Okay, so go and practice those thoughts and make sure you check your inbox, because I'm going to be sending you more videos on how to break free from procrastination and rid yourself of the overwhelm so that you can go after your goals at full force. I'll talk to you then.
