Mount Taranaki is 2518m (8261 ft), and I felt every inch of the pain - it was a serious workout, kids! We dragged ourselves out of bed at 6am for a 7:30am start, and didn't get all the way back down until 5pm. It's one of those things that is a struggle while you're doing it, but feels so good afterward (or at the top, as you can tell by my body language when after 5.5 hours of uphill, we finally reached the summit!). I wore my dad's flease jacket, it's so brightly coloured (it's obviously from the 80's!!) because it was absolutely freezing when the wind picked up. One of the sections was so slow, it took two hours on the ascent, and only 5 minutes on the descent! That was the best part - we had so much fun running down the scree. It's like skiing on gravel, woohoo! I'm exhausted now, and a bit sunburnt, so I'm ready for a long sleep! See ya later x
