How To Get Yourself To Do Something You Don’t Feel Like Doing

 
 

How do you get yourself to do something you don't want to do?


Stop telling yourself you don't want to do it.


You DO want to do it, because the outcome is worth it. Otherwise you wouldn’t even be considering it.

You aren't responsible for your first thought, but you are responsible for your second thought.

So the first time your brain says to you “I don't feel like it” that's not your fault.

But the 2nd time, the 5th time, the 47th time you're saying to yourself “I don't feel like it” now that's on YOU.

You don't have to believe what your brain tells you.

You get to choose again.
So start telling yourself I WANT TO.

 

I want to make an offer.

I want to reach out to the client.

I want to make a cold call.

I want to go to the gym.

I want to do my taxes.

 

Watch how your brain shifts, just with the reminder.

You've got three choices of what to think:

1. I don't want to, so I won't (resistance).

2. I don't want to, but I will (willpower).

3. I want to, so I will (desire).

 

Most people live their lives going back and forth between option 1 and 2. Willpower doesn't last long, so you're back to resistance.

I promise you're going to enjoy life so much more if you choose option 3. 

Release the resistance, generate desire.
