I landed a backflip on a trampoline last month, which has been a dream of mine for a long time. I hesitated working on it because of fear, but in May I did it! I’ve been filming a lot of videos for my YouTube channel, and next week I’ll start releasing them.

Goals I’m working on right now:

    7 figure business

    Landing a standing backflip

    5000 subscribers on YouTube

  • Hey! I’m Sarah.

I set goals to feel alive.

    Sweaty palms.
    Racing heart.

    Can’t think of anything else.

Combining my background in Psychology with my training as a High Performance Coach, I help ambitious entrepreneurs, creatives and athletes achieve their goals.

l created this blog to share behind-the-scenes of my own goals and help you push your limits. I'm creating what I wish existed for me to consume.

People often ask if I’ll climb Mt Everest like my parents did in the 90's (as depicted in the 2015 film, Everest).

While I’ve done a little bit of mountaineering (Kilimanjaro in 2011 and Everest Base Camp in 2007) what most people don’t know is that my late dad was also an entrepreneur. I feel most connected to him through our shared love of entrepreneurship and attempting the impossible in all areas of life.

How To Know If You'll Hit Your Goal

1A1A9255.jpg

I can always tell if someone is going to hit their goal – even if they haven’t said what their goal is.

Because achieving your goal has literally nothing to do with the goal itself.

It’s purely about the way you’re pursuing it.

There are only 3 steps to achieving any goal (even an impossible one).

  1. Create a simple plan

  2. Actually do the things in the plan

  3. Manage your thoughts about it

It doesn’t matter if your goal is to start a business or write a book or create a new client – if one of these steps is missing, it’s going to stop you right in your tracks.

And I see this all the time – passionate people, with all the motivation in the world, and somehow they’re still stuck.

Because their plan is too complicated.

And they’re not actually doing the things they know they should be doing.

And they’re freaking out over any obstacle that shows up.

These three steps might seem simple, but my clients would agree – nothing has been more important to their success.

It’s how my client Keira opened a book shop in 9 weeks.

And how my client Katrin’s program completely sold out on her first launch.

And how my client Niamh signed a celebrity client.

And how my client Nancy became a digital nomad and moved to Colombia.

And how I grew an audience of over 24,000 people and became my own boss.

If you’re serious about hitting your goal, your job is to spend all of your energy focused on nailing these three steps – and zero energy on anything that takes you away from them.

  1. Create a simple plan

  2. Actually do the things in the plan

  3. Manage your thoughts about it

Throw out the rest.

February 2021 Goals

pexels-karolina-grabowska-4226726.jpg

There are 28 days in this month.

Because this year I set my goals out Quarterly, I already have a rough idea of what I need to do this month.

  1. Get more photos done with the lovely Aimee Jules Photography (to move closer to my goal of up-leveling my photos and graphics).

Helpful thought: Making time for this is a priority to me.

  2. Listen/watch Tony Robbins’ Ultimate Relationship Program with my boyfriend, Daniel (he has been away for most of January so we haven’t had a chance to do the work together yet!). I also just realized it’s Valentine’s month so it fits perfectly.

Helpful thought: This gets to be so fun!

  3. Do 4 Livestreams
I LOVE doing Livestreams because I always feel so much more connected to the Impossible Girls. but I always forget to do them/don’t make them a priority. This month, that’s changing!

Helpful thought: There’s someone out there right now who needs to hear my message.

  4. Journaling on this one question, every single time I create content: How can I put out the most valuable content on the internet today? It’s really important to me that this group is a place where women can come and actually get support for their goals. This is my favourite place to hang out online, and I want to keep it that way! :)

Helpful thought: One piece of content could change someone’s life.

  5. Finish re-reading my favourite book of all time, The 9 Secrets of Women Who Get What They Want by Kate White (it’s the book that sparked my goal-getting life at 14 years old!). It’s a nightmare to get hold of because it was published in 1998 and there aren’t very many copies. I keep giving my copies away, haha! I found a copy on Amazon UK and it took 4 weeks to arrive in NZ, but it’s finally here and I’m SO excited to read it!

Helpful thought: This is my favourite thing to read!

Have you set your February goals yet?

January 2021 Goals Review

  1. Attend the Mastermind with an open mind, ready to take any coaching on board.
Done! I’ll be honest – it was a rollercoaster. I was being pushed beyond my business limits in a way I didn’t expect. I felt pressure. I got confused. I cried. But I also danced and felt euphoric and like I was stepping into a whole new mental level that I wasn’t expecting to step into for at least another 3 years. It was one of the best experiences of my life. All I can say is, INVEST in your growth, whatever that looks like for you. Because up-leveling YOU means everything you do gets an automatic up-level too.

  2. Slowly move myself onto New York time a week ahead of the mastermind (and wear a watch set at Eastern time to remind me).
Done! My entire life, I’ve always believed I was a night owl. But it turns out I CAN be a morning person if I have a good reason to get up. I was getting up at 1:30am daily without any trouble at all (I was going to sleep at 6pm). All this time I thought I “couldn’t do mornings”. Who knew?!

  3. Do my physiotherapy exercises daily.
Yup. As painful as they are (physically and mentally), I’ve been doing them every single day. And I confessed to my physiotherapist that I didn’t do them for most of December. It was a good kick in the booty! 🙈

  4. Actually create all of my content on Fridays.
Done! And I was SO pleased that I created two weeks of content ahead of time for while I was at the mastermind because I ended up “jet-lagged” for an entire week after.

Today is an Epic Day

DA597702-14FB-40BB-9880-91647BF85F5B-2.jpg

Today is an epic day.

Last January, I coached my client Nancy on her ability to create just $10 in a business of her own.

She told me she wasn’t sure if she could do it yet, because she didn’t have anything to offer.

We brainstormed ideas that included:

  • Selling $1 tickets to a premier viewing of her latest YouTube video to 10 of her friends (including free popcorn)

  • Editing someone else’s YouTube video

  • Making and selling t-shirts

Eight months after that first conversation, Nancy quit her job because she was making enough money in her YouTube freelancing business to support herself full time.

Today, just 12 months after her first $1 popcorn viewing, she is MOVING TO COLOMBIA to officially begin living as a full time digital nomad, just because she can.

Her self-concept has transformed.

She is no longer Nancy the corporate office worker.

She is Nancy the digital nomad who works and lives from anywhere in the world.

It wasn’t straight forward at all.

She had to finish her degree.

She had to work in a job she despised.

She had to disappoint family members.

She had to fire a client.

She had to overcome her mind drama.

And she still made it through.

One. year.

You crushed it, Nancy.

Send us a postcard!

January 2021 Goals

BE052BCC-4157-45EE-8767-B4D548AE0C00.jpg

I got so caught up in sharing my 2020 goals that I realised I didn’t even share my January Goals 😂

So, even though we’re half way through the month, here they are (I’ve been working on them, I promise!)

  1. Attend the Mastermind with an open mind, ready to take any coaching on board.
I noticed that I’ve been having some unhelpful thoughts about what I might be coached on during the mastermind, so I decided to do some self-coaching ahead of time. Helpful thoughts I am choosing: My coach wants me to succeed, and everything she says and does is to serve me. We are on the same team.

  2. Slowly move myself onto New York time a week ahead of the mastermind (and wear a watch set at Eastern time to remind me)
Each day starts at 9am NYC, which is 3am my time in New Zealand, so  I’m getting my body used to waking up earlier and earlier. Today I got up at 3:30am and tomorrow I will get up at 2:00am. I’m not allowing myself to have any drama about it. Just do it.

  3. Do my physiotherapy exercises daily.
I realise that I need to strictly discipline myself to do these, otherwise I end up asking “Do I really need to do it today? It won’t matter if I leave it until tomorrow.” That’s a slippery slope that has led me to neglecting my shoulder therapy almost entirely, I’m embarrassed to say. It’s only five minutes, girl. Come ON. So my commitment is to do them every single day this month, no matter what.

  4. Actually create all of my content on Fridays
In December I started creating all of my content weekly, but I discovered that if I miss the day I planned to do it, suddenly I’m seven days behind – which creates a big mess in my schedule. So in January, I have committed to writing my weekly content on Fridays (and not leaving it until the last minute of the day, either!).

Quarterly Planning

My Quarterly Planning:

I have decided to split my 2021 Goals up into quarterly sections so I know which goals to focus on, and when.

Quarter 1:

  • Hire a Facebook growth manager

  • Uplevel my photos and graphics

  • Heal my shoulder (I want to make sure this is part of every quarter, but really focus on it in the beginning to maximise my progress by the end of the year).

  • Ultimate relationship program

Quarter 2:

  • Create a beautiful office space to work in

  • Start and continue a podcast

  • Do weekly classes (art, singing, languages, sport) with Daniel (beginning in Q2 because then we’ll likely be settled in Wellington)

Quarter 3:

  • Create a video series

  • Go to a Tony Robbins live/virtual event (Probably UPW in September)

Quarter 4:

  • I will easily do 20 perfect-form push ups in a row

  • Double my emergency fund

Habits for the entire time:

  • Donate at LEAST 1% of my income (COMPLETE for January already!)

  • Delete and not use social media on my phone (only on the computer)

  • Do content creation on Fridays

  • Finish working by 6pm daily

  • Be 5 minutes early

Has anyone else tried quarterly planning for their big goals?

Play Your Goals

bayu-anggoro-7tSvMswOdLU-unsplash.jpg

Instead of working on our goals, I like to think we play our goals.

We play a game that never ends.

And we don’t want it to end.

Because the point is not to win.

The point is to continue playing.

After all – we don’t climb mountains to get to the top, we climb mountains because we love to climb.

Impossible goals aren’t about achievement.

They’re about pushing our limits and blowing our own minds.

Then & Now

“You’re not scared to start your dream. You’re embarrassed to be seen starting small.” – Brendon Burchard

I still keep my most embarrassing, first-ever videos up on my channel.

They are the cringiest, most awkward videos on the internet.

But I do it because one day, I want someone to be able to look back at my beginning and feel like they can start exactly where they are too, with just a bedroom and a broken whiteboard.

A lot can change in a year, you guys.

Keep going.

Why I Share My Biggest Goals On The Internet

IMG_5020.JPG

I constantly publish my deepest, scariest most impossible goals on the internet for everyone to see.

Even though there’s a chance that I won’t hit them.

But here’s the thing:

The chance that I’ll achieve them actually decreases when I don’t share them.

Because there’s nothing quite as motivating as the thought that the whole world is watching.

Your own mind is the place your dreams will go to die.

Don’t bottle up your dreams.

Tell EVERYONE.

And then walk your talk.

But what if I tell everyone and I fail?

I’ve got a better question:

What if you don’t tell anyone so you never even try?

We are social creatures. We need social motivation.

If I hadn’t seen people like Stefan James or Susi Kauefer or Matheson Brown sharing their goals, I would have missed out on SO much inspiration.

Plus, there’s something epic about hearing someone say they’re going to kick ass, and then actually watching them do it. It feels like you’re part of their journey.

But apparently, it’s not cool to WANT success. It’s only cool to HAVE success.

We’re supposed to act like epic things just happen to us by accident.

“Oh, this old thing?”

“Yeah, just a million followers, what can I say?”

“Aw thanks, it was nothing.”

I say we trash that model, and start a new one.

One where dreams don’t have to be shameful and secretive.

One where we celebrate each other for wanting more than a mediocre life.

Go on, tell the world. Motivate yourself. Inspire someone.

That’s freaking cool.

My 2021 Goals

1A1A8775.jpg

Happy 2021, everyone! This is my absolute favourite time of the year – we get to set impossible, crazy goals and have a fresh start to hit them. I have categorized my goals this year into different areas, to make sure I don’t get to the end of the year having crushed it in one area of life and have neglected another.

My Top 3 Impossible Goals for 2021:

  1. Business:
I will easily start (and continue) a successful podcast

  2. Business:
I will easily create an impossible video series

  3. Health
I will easily heal my shoulder completely so I can get back to doing 20 perfect-form push-ups in a row

These are my top three, non-negotiable goals. These ones are absolutely happening. I also have a list of other goals, but they fall only as extras – they will not be prioritized over my top 3 goals.

Complete List of My Goals for 2021:

Business

  • I will easily start and continue a podcast
I’ve been considering this for a while, but it hasn’t felt right. But I recently got coached on what kind of impact I want to have going forward, and it became crystal clear that I need to start a podcast.

  • I will easily create an impossible video series
Last year, I set myself the goal to make YouTube videos every week. What I discovered, was that I was putting out videos I wasn’t happy with, just because I had to have one out every week. So instead, this year, I’m committing to putting out a video series that I am proud of – no particular number of videos, no particular dates. Just doing it.

  • I will easily create a beautiful office space to work in
When I first started my business, I worked sitting on my bed in my bedroom. It was all I needed, and I recommend it to anyone. You don’t need fancy ANYTHING to begin. Now I have my own office, but it’s not set up how I’d like it to be (and I’ll be moving to a new office soon). So now that my business is full time and I’m working in my office a lot, I’m excited to create something that reflects that.

  • I will easily uplevel my photos and graphics
I’ve done everything myself in my business so far – and like I said above, that’s the best way to begin! Now as my business scales, I’m ready to take my business branding to the next level and have someone else help me create the vision I have in my head.

Relationships

  • I will easily start and complete Tony Robbins’ Ultimate Relationship Program
In 2021, Daniel and I will celebrate 6 years together. We continually talk about what makes a relationship great, and we agreed that the world’s happiest couples work on their relationship BEFORE there are any big issues. So yesterday we bought Tony’s program and we’ve already been listening to it together while doing the dishes and driving.

  • I will easily do weekly classes (art, singing, languages, sport) with Daniel
Another thing we agreed on was that we want to do an activity that we are both beginners at, so we can grow together. We decided to start with a pottery sculpting class – and then next, we’re going to take up singing lessons.

Health

  • I will easily heal my shoulder completely
Last year, I injured my shoulder and it’s been a looooong journey to heal. I know there is still a long way to go, but it is an absolute priority for me.

  • I will easily do 20 perfect-form push-ups in a row
Last year I set myself the goal to do 100 push-ups in a row – and I got to 50! But they weren’t great form (hence the injury), so this time around, I’m allowing myself more time to hit 100, but ensuring that my form is excellent before progressing to the next level.

Finances

  • I will easily donate at least 1% of my income to a charity I care about each month
I read an article that said something along the lines of “We all think we’re going to donate more when we have more. If you’re not willing to donate $1 out of every $100 you make, you’re kidding yourself if you think you’ll donate $100,000 out of $10 million.” Oh, good point. I know I can certainly donate more than 1%, but I want to ALWAYS make sure I donate at least 1%, so I am in the habit of donating.

  • I will easily double the size of my emergency fund
If you haven’t heard of an Emergency Fund or Dave Ramsey – run to YouTube, now. Having an emergency fund has totally changed my outlook on money – and I’m keen to have an even bigger safety net in 2021.

Personal development

  • I will easily go to a Tony Robbins event (virtual or in-person)
I’ve been DREAMING of going to a live Tony Robbins’ event for about the last 10 years. Regardless of if it’s virtual or in-person, this year is the year!

Resolutions/Habits

  • I will easily delete and never use social media on my phone
Hands up if you’re addicted to your phone. ***Only puts one hand up because the other one is still scrolling important memes*** I’m addicted. Enough said.

  • I will easily do all of my content creation on Fridays
Until now, I’ve been creating content every single day, but in 2021, I have decided to spend a whole day just to batch create my content (posts, videos, podcasts) for the whole week, so my assistant can schedule them ahead of time. I’m really excited about this one, I can feel the stress melting away.

  • I will easily finish working at 6 pm at the latest every day
I turned my hobby into my full-time business, so I’m a terrible workaholic. Working IS the most fun thing I can do. But it also means I miss out on other important things in my life – like family and friends. So this year, I commit to stopping working at 6 pm at the latest.

  • I will easily be 5 minutes early for everything
I’ve got a terrible habit of being JUST on time. I’m not late often, but I usually have to rush to get everything done at the last minute, and I don’t like that. So this year, I commit to adding 5 minutes onto my mental “this is how long this activity will take” clock.

Have you set your 2021 goals yet?
