I’ve been working out a lot, 3x reformer pilates and 3x weight lifting each week, as well as cardio. I’m feeling strong and I did 20 push ups the other day without any struggle, which feels great. I’m practicing for an upcoming salsa performance, and I’ve just started my new masterclass series on zoom teaching impossible goals, so I’m excited about that too.

Goals I’m working on right now:

    7 figure business

  • Hey! I’m Sarah.

I set goals to feel alive.

    Sweaty palms.
    Racing heart.

    Can’t think of anything else.

Combining my background in Psychology with my training as a High Performance Coach, I help ambitious entrepreneurs, creatives and athletes achieve their goals.

l created this blog to share behind-the-scenes of my own goals and help you push your limits. I'm creating what I wish existed for me to consume.

People often ask if I’ll climb Mt Everest like my parents did in the 90's (as depicted in the 2015 film, Everest).

While I’ve done a little bit of mountaineering (Kilimanjaro in 2011 and Everest Base Camp in 2007) what most people don’t know is that my late dad was also an entrepreneur. I feel most connected to him through our shared love of entrepreneurship and attempting the impossible in all areas of life.

Quarantine: Day 2

IMG_9922.PNG

Since we arrived back into New Zealand on Sunday, we’ve had to quarantine.

But you know what? It kind of feels like we get to quarantine. It’s a break. A relaxation. A moment away from the hectic expectations of the world.

I haven’t read a single news article.
I’ve read my book! An actual book, with pages! Oh, this is a glorious opportunity.

Coronavirus has shaken shit up. The world is an uncertain place. We all know it, we all feel it.

We all had big plans for 2020 and now it feels like they’re being shut down.

You can give up on your plans and goals because the world seems hopeless.

Or you can grab your dreams by the reigns and turn this mofo around.

What if this lockdown wasn’t a crisis, but the biggest opportunity of your life?

What if you chose to take this time to work on your biggest dreams?

Imagine where you could be in 90 days. Imagine how you could come out of this. Stronger than before. In a better financial position. On a new path.

You could start your business, or amp up the one that’s been sitting on the back burner and bring in some extra income.

You could create that content you’ve been meaning to create. Blogs, Videos, Websites, Photography, Art, Books.

You could take on your dream to be a producer/filmmaker/model/business owner/writer/freelancer/blogger/vlogger.

Whatever your dream is, now is the time to make it happen.

This can be a blessing, if you let it.

How To Flustle

chris-curry-UJij-wz7w88-unsplash.jpg

Flustle.
Verb. to own your own freaking energy and do things the way that feels good to you.
Hustle & flow, together.

The guy who read my chakras today (don’t ask) said my masculine and feminine energy were off. But I’ve never felt like I could be put into the masculine or feminine energy box. I don’t do things with flow. I analyze too much for flow. I don’t do things with blunt force. I’m too intuitive for that.

But you know what I do freaking do?

I flustle.

Sometimes that means doing all sorts of random stuff to achieve my goals.

I’m not going to be ashamed of the way I go after my goals just because it’s not perfect. I AM in balance, thank you very much, charkra man. I’m in flustle. I’m not ashamed of my mishmash, driving-with-my-eyes-closed, flying-by-the-seat-of-my-pants MO.

Do you want to know a secret? I DON’T HAVE A CLUE WHAT I’M DOING.

Do you want to know another secret? NO ONE ELSE DOES EITHER.

My MO is to flustle.

And now that I’ve made it a thing, I ain't ever apologising for it.

What if I just decided the hot mess I am was good enough?

Mistakes I Made When I Started My Business

Bonus mistake: posting images of me with flowers on my face for absolutely no reason. But this was me back then!

Bonus mistake: posting images of me with flowers on my face for absolutely no reason. But this was me back then!

I started making money online as a coach almost exactly 2 years ago, so I thought it would be fun to share some of the mistakes I made when I started out. I hope they help you to avoid making the same ones – and if you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the comments or send me an email/Instagram message.

  1. Getting distracted from the main thing. Stephen Covey said, “The main thing is to keep the main thing, the main thing.” When I first started coaching, long before I had a certification, I jumped straight in and my lack of knowledge was actually an asset. I had no idea how to create sales funnels or do email marketing, I didn’t have professional photos and wasn’t good at pretty much any business skill. So I didn’t do any of it. Instead, I focused most of my energy on creating and serving my clients – and that worked immediately. As soon as I started to learn about marketing tactics, my business slowed down massively. It took me a long time to figure out what was wrong. I’m talking at least 12 months.

  2. Burning my weapons. Tony Robbins said, “If you want to take the island you need to burn the boats.” In other words, to really go all in and make something work, you need to have no return, no way back. I followed this advice, and I quit my job – which was the right thing to do. The wrong thing to do was to very quickly burn my weapons too – my money. I super quickly spent almost all of it on my coaching certification, and while I’m grateful I did that, in hindsight, I should have left some for marketing, and uh, food.

  3. Make it complicated. Business is nowhere near as complex as it seems, particularly not when you’re a solo entrepreneur. You don’t need the fancy funnels, fancy marketing campaigns, or fancy anything to make money online. You need you, a skill, and someone who needs your offer.

  4. Closing my Facebook group. This is a very specific mistake that won’t apply to everyone in business, but I feel that my Facebook group was a great source of connection with wonderful amazing people and many of my clients were in that group. Running a successful Facebook group is a huge time commitment, but the reward for your audience is massive. It’s a place to connect, ask questions, and get help for free. This is something I will be bringing back in the very near future.

  5. Spending forever on my website. This is still a mistake I make to this day. I love editing website – changing the colours, the fonts, the style, the layout – and I am not kidding you, once I get started, that’s it, the whole day is a write-off. On several occasions, I’ve gone without food for more than 12 hours, totally immersed in getting the exact right font or something else inconsequential. This habit particularly deceptive because it feels like productivity (my website needs to be good for my clients, right?), but it’s not. My advice: Figure out your distractions and guilty pleasures, and limit yourself.

  6. Not having a contract. The second client I ever signed ghosted me after the first session we had, but she hadn’t paid the full amount yet. Always get your agreements in writing!

What mistakes have you made in business? Let me know I’d love to chat mistakes!

Change

Right now, I feel like the world is in a state of total change. Everyone in this world will be affected by the current state with coronavirus. Here are some journaling questions I’ve been journaling for myself today, that I hope can bring you some positivity and certainty in an uncertain time.

  1. If this crisis was an opportunity for a fresh start, what would I do differently in my life?

  2. Who do I need to be in order to come out of this experience stronger?

  3. What could I do to help someone else right now, even in a tiny way?

  4. How could I contribute something beautiful to the world right now?

Sending you all so much love, and if you want anyone to talk to, feel free to send me a message. We are all hear for each other ❤️️

Who Do I Need to Be?

Worrying is Suffering Twice

Screen Shot 2020-03-12 at 6.11.12 PM.png

We need to talk.

No, not you and me.

Me and my anxious brain.

Or you and your anxious brain.

Look.

I know your washed your hands 4 times before 10am, and you used sanitizing wipes to open the bathroom door today, and you didn’t eat anything until 2pm even though you had fruit in your bag because you were in public and afraid of consuming a sneezed-on banana.

The world is a scary place right now.

But you know what’s a worse place? Your brain.

And you can’t control the world. But you can control your brain. You can control the thoughts that your brain chooses to project.

There’s a second strain of virus that no one is talking about. It’s the anxiety that is surging thanks to global media and the internet. Do you think they have a health count on how many people have been infected with anxiety since coronavirus broke out?

I bet it’s festering.

I’ve been anxious all day. But I’ve decided that worrying about getting infected is just like being infected twice.

So no more, okay brain?

Okay.

Why Understanding That Your Mindset Is A Menu Will Change Everything

man-in-gray-suit-reading-the-menu-3528716.jpg

Your mindset is like a menu at a restaurant. You’ve got all of these different beliefs about who you are on the menu.

And you can only order from the menu.

What’s on your menu?

I am a nervous flyer
I am ugly
I am someone who can’t control myself around food.
I am bad at handling money.

If you try to order something that’s not on the menu you won’t get it.

If you try to get on a plane and feel calm, but your menu says “I am a nervous flyer” that’s what you’re gonna get. You’re going to start acting in accordance with that identity.

The dude in the photo is a smoker. It’s one of his beliefs, or he wouldn’t be smoking. Right? It’s on his menu. He has to change the menu before he can order something different for his life.

If I handed you your menu, would you be happy to order from that every single day?

Nervous flyer, bad with money, addicted to food?

Good news, you’re the chef, and you can change what’s on the menu.

Mirror Mirror

IMG_3778 2.JPG

When you look in the mirror, how do you see yourself?
How you define yourself is what controls your life.

Do you see someone who can take on their wildest dreams?
When I look in the mirror I see someone who can do 100 push ups.
I see someone who can build an empire.

When I look in the mirror I tell myself I’ve got this.
I tell myself I can change the world.

Because if the girl looking back at me doesn’t believe it, why would the rest of the world?

The only way to get what you want is to be the kind of person who gets what they want. So make BEING the kind of person who achieves your goals your number one priority – and your goals will automatically become reality.

Money

IMG_7706.JPG

Money - it’s the only thing more taboo than sex.

When I was a kid, I’d do anything to get out of talking about money. I would rather pay for my whole table’s dinner out than discuss how to split the bill.

As a society, we pretend to have more of it than we do have. Sometimes, we pretend to have less of it than we do have.

These are the rules:

You’re supposed to automatically have it, but not want it.
You’re supposed to get it easily, but you’re not supposed to share how.
You can’t be too poor, or people will look down upon you.
You can’t be too rich, or people will look down upon you.

What kind of society is this? I think we’re all subconsciously messed up from having no one to talk about money with. We’re repressed.

The ’60s was the sexual revolution, I think the 2020s should be the financial revolution.

FREE THE FINANCIAL NIPPLE!

Imagine if people talked about it. Like properly.
Imagine if your teachers, your doctors, your storekeepers, your friends, your uncle, your cousin, and your neighbours all shared how much money they make and have.

Imagine if on your Facebook profile, next to where you went to school and what you relationship status is, we put our financial status.

Debt: X amount
Assets: X amount
Savings: X amount

Why is that such a wild idea?

We all have to use money. And yet, we’re terrified of talking about it. After many years of contemplation, I believe it is for these three reasons:

  1. We’re afraid others will judge us for the amount we have (shame)

  2. We’re afraid we’ll offend someone because our amount is more than theirs (guilt)

  3. We’re afraid we’ll lose it/have it stolen (fear)

So we decide that money is private. BUT WHY?

Because we’ve given it more personal meaning than it actually has.

Your net worth is not your self-worth.

Period.

This is me opening up the beginning of a conversation around money that I think is mighty time we started having.

And who knows, maybe we’ll spark a revolution of people sharing their financial status along with their relationship status on Facebook.

The Only Reason

The only reason you don’t have what you want is because you don’t believe you’re the kind of person who gets to have it.

The ONLY reason you are not making money as an entrepreneur is because you don’t believe you are someone who makes money as an entrepreneur.

The ONLY reason you are not losing weight is because you don’t believe you are someone who can lose weight.

The ONLY reason you are not eating healthily is because you don’t believe you are someone who eats healthily.

The ONLY reason you are not in a happy relationship is because you don’t believe you’re someone who has happy relationships.

It’s all about who you believe you are. If you believe you are a non-smoker, it doesn’t take any effort to not smoke, right?

Tony Robbins says that the strongest force in the human personality is our need to make our actions consistent with how we define ourselves – even if that definition is negative.

It’s why some people never struggle with money, and others never struggle with weight, and others never struggle with relationships.

It’s their standard.

It’s fully ingrained in who they are.

They are X kind of person. And therefore, they act in X kind of way.

What kind of person are you?

(Hint: you get to decide).
