    People often ask if I’ll climb Mt Everest like my parents did in the 90's (as depicted in the 2015 film, Everest).

    While I’ve done a little bit of mountaineering (Kilimanjaro in 2011 and Everest Base Camp in 2007) what most people don’t know is that my late dad was also an entrepreneur. I feel most connected to him through our shared love of entrepreneurship and attempting the impossible in all areas of life.

Facebook Can Be Twitter

I’ve been spending way too much time trying to find photos of me to add to my social media posts.

This week I realised that my audience doesn’t care about the photo, they just want the value of the copy.

So I figured out I can use Facebook as if it’s Twitter, and just WRITE.

Might have seemed obvious 10 years ago when people just did status updates (and photos took 4 hours to load), but today, it seems revolutionary to me.

It’s already been a productivity game-changer.

You Don’t Need Social Media to Run A Business

Social media is just another way of connecting.

You can also connect offline.

The same principles apply.

Connect with people.

Add actual real value to their life.

Share how you can help them.

Don’t love social media? Totally okay!

Use the principles at a supermarket or train station instead.

Your Website Won't Make You Money

Your website is two things: a brochure and credit card processor.

It will not make you money.

Thinking it will make you money is like expecting an eftpos card machine to bring you customers.

YOU make the money. The website is an accessory.

My website was up for an entire year before I made a single dollar in my business, but I spent that entire year thinking that having a website would automatically bring success.

Once I stopped depending on external things to make me money: websites, funnels, social media, and started depending on adding value to people’s lives and solving problems, things started to change.

Create a website if you want one. Just remember that you’re the boss.

You ARE a Thought Leader

Don’t deny the world of your genius because you didn’t come up with every idea from scratch.

It’s the combination of the genius you’ve absorbed from a bunch of different people, mixed with your own life experience, that makes YOU the creator someone loves to follow.

Your brain is a SUPERBABY of all the people you’ve been influenced by.

So instead of thinking I don’t have anything valuable or new to say, I'm like Y’ALL BETTER STRAP IN TIGHT BECAUSE YOU’VE NEVER HEARD IT LIKE THIS BEFORE.

It should go without saying that plagiarism is never a vibe, but you can totally credit the original creator for their rightful intellectual property that inspired your musing AND still be a thought leader.

Actually, that's how thought leaders are created – by sharing YOUR particular mixture of superbaby genius with the world.

You Can Have Anything You Want If You’re Willing to Do This One Thing

Asking.

You can have anything you want if you’re willing to ask 1000 people.

Most people just aren’t willing to ask.

It feels like too much.

It feels scary.

We don’t want to bother anyone.

What if you asked, though?

Imagine asking 1000 different celebrities to be on your podcast.

Or asking 1000 TEDx organisations to do a talk.

Or asking 1000 connected people on linked in if they will introduce you to Rihanna’s record producer.

Or asking 1000 magazine editors to get you a 15 minute chat with Anna Wintour. 

It would probably work, right?

Someone would help.

And most of the time, it doesn’t take 1000 people.

Sometimes it just takes one person.

Because people want to say yes. We’re wired to say yes.

When I was starting out coaching 3 years ago, I asked a well-known entrepreneur if I could coach them for free in exchange for their $1000 online course. It worked.

Last year, I asked strangers at the mall to subscribe to me on YouTube – and long story short, I got 40 new subscribers in a day.

What if asking is the only thing standing between you and massive success?

April 2021 Goals Review

I’m stoked with my progress this month. I don’t try to control the uncontrollable, but thanks to my goals in April, the things I can control do feel in control, which is an amazing feeling (because it’s not always the case!). Here’s my rundown of April:

  1. Time-block all of my activities – and really, genuinely stick to the time I said I would do them.
    DONE

    I didn’t write a SINGLE to-do list the entire month. Whaaaat?! That might have been the longest I’ve ever been in my LIFE without writing a to-do list. I simply put all of my to-dos onto my calendar and found time for all of them. Loving this system. I never feel stressed about lots of things to do, because each task has a designated time it will get done, pre-planned on my calendar. So freeing!

  2. Take my evenings and weekends fully off.
    DONE

    I have been SO much better at this. Not perfect. But waaaay better. The only time I have worked in the evenings or weekends was if there was something genuinely urgent that needed to get done.

Why you should be in it for the money

When you’re in it for the money, you’re in it to have choices.

You’re in it to have healthcare.

You’re in it to support your family.

You’re in it to give back to your community.

You’re in it to be independent.

You’re in it to donate.

You’re in it to create employment for others.

You’re in it to make an impact.

You’re in it to vote with your dollar.

Being in it for the money IS being in it for the right reasons.

Because money creates more opportunities to help the world.

When we say we don’t care about the money, we create a ripple effect that puts all the buying power in the hands of people who don’t give a damn.

The kind of loving, generous people who say they’re not in it for the money are the exact people we NEED to be in it for the money.

Because we need more money in the hands of the good guys.

Let’s be in it for the money so we can create the world we actually want to live in.

(Can we get some more money in the hands of the Malala’s and the Greta’s of this world please?)

What To Do if You’re Worried About Running Out of Clients

One of my clients said this to me today: “What if I’m running out of clients? What if they've already all hired me?”

So we broke it down in an exercise that I fully recommend you do if you’re having these thoughts:

  1. How many people are there in your orbit right now, that could contact you TODAY and say they’re ready to work with you? She said “at least 5.”

  2. How many people could be about to find out about you through a friend/a recommendation/a referral? 100.

  3. How many people will you connect with in the next month? 50.

  4. How many people in your city have the problem you solve? (Quick google search: 14,000 in her city).

  5. How many people on your continent have the problem you solve? (Quick google search: 40 million)

  6. How many of those 40 million people would be prepared to pay you to help them? At least a million.

  7. How many clients do you need in a year again? 24.

Y’all. There are SO many people who want to buy from you.

There is literally an abundance of people on this planet, and those people just keep making more people.

All you have to do today is meet ONE.

How to Make the Right Decision (Stop Waiting for a Prince)

There might never be a sign or a magic mirror on the wall that tells you THIS IS THE WAY to making money/building followers/getting the book deal.

I was full-on waiting for that sign for two years.

I had no clients.

No Facebook group.

No blog posts.

No sales.

I was waiting for a prince in the shape of a marketing plan to come and save me.

(“Princess! Here is the magic pill that will solve everything. Sorry to keep you waiting for years, traffic was a nightmare.”)

I didn’t start creating clients or growing my group or blogging until I decided that I am my own magic pill.

I started building success when I decided that whatever way I chose was going to work, as long as I committed to it 100% and stopped changing my plan every 5 minutes.

Because here’s the thing about success:

There is never a right decision.

There’s only the decision that you make right.
